Wow, I can't believe the president has the balls to want to help the American public. That's sooo crazy, I mean this clip is an outrage. To improve the quality of healthcare...wow I can't believe he would even CONSIDER it. I mean, my boss with stage 4 breast cancer doesn't need help...her insurance dropped her because she didn't report visiting the doctor 4 years ago for the flu.

In case you couldn't figure this out...I am being completely sarcastic. I am a healthcare provider and I think holding our healthcare system more accountable and making it more accessible is just what we need. Look at the big picture people. Yes I agree government is getting out of control...anyone with money can stand up and lobby, and win regardless of if it is right or wrong...what do you think the insurance companies are doing with there money right now? I agree that government is "out of control", and it has been heading that way for decades. However, I don't think this is the time for "tea parties". Our economy, which was in shambles, is starting to twitch back to life. We are in economic crisis as a nation, and we NEED government intervention to help fix the problem..and it's working. Once we're back to an economic recovery that approximates the economy of the 90's, then I think the tea parties should do their thing. Big government needs to be held in check by the people, but now's not the time. Now is about survival. They're just shooting themselves in the foot by biting the govt hand that trying to keep them above water during this "flood", also know as a recession.

If I am correct all the Government spending did was to Delay the ineveitable. As you notice Conumer Confidence has gone down last month and there has been hardly NO Job Creation.

If we go back to the Great Depression, right before the Giant fall the market went back up. Kind of like the Deep Breath before the Plunge.

Ironicly the thing that Brought us out of the Depression was 1 Part Government Spending, and 99 parts War.

The Demand for War products, the Death of Hundreds of thousands of people, and eventually the Desire of the People to live the Good life after the war and Inovations during the war is what Brought us out of the Depression.

Before the War, the Government could have Spent Money all day and it would not have mattered. It was the cobination of the War, Death(which created a robust Job Market)and people's desire afterwards for those inovations is what ended the Depression.

I believe you are correct.
But government spending has helped us to avoid the "2nd great depression" that economist were all so worried about.
The dramatic rise in GDP from -6% last year to +3% now brings to an end talk about "falling off a cliff".
Until that "end of the world" gloom and doom ended there was no possibility that consumer spending was going to bring the economy back.
To use your analogy...if the government had not passed out the money for lemonade, all the lemonade stands would have closed , no one would be buying period. If your kids lemonade stand business is booming they'll buy more lemons from the grocery store and hire more neighborhood kids to help them sell. Those kids in turn will have pocket money to go out and buy candy and toys...and keep the toy and candy business going.

If no one is spending...no one is selling and no one is producing.

If the world has learned anything from this experience it is that when the private sector is bleeding and on the ropes, the only saving grace is the government spending.
China, France , Britian, Canada..every major economy has pumped billions of dollars of stimulus money into their economies in order to claw their way out of this recession. And it seems to be working

This incredible mess is our own God damn fault. We have become a nation of blithering idiot celebrity-junkie credit card morons. We don't support our local economies well enough. We hardly support small business anymore. We don't supply our troops well enough. Support for legitimate charity is way down. The people of this country won't even get out of credit card debt for their own fucking good or the good of their families. They absolutely will not do the things necessary to revive our own economy or ensure some reasonable level of shared prosperity. But when another filthy-disgusting-rich over-paid celebrity pig in a $500 cowboy hat comes out of retirement because he wants to get even richer, the people of this country drop what they were doing and buy out his next 20 shows in 5 hours flat. Springsteen sells out. Miley sells out. U2 sells out. Madonna sells out. Timberlake sells out. Every seat. Every time. Last year, we spent $400,000,000 on a single fucking movie just to see a guy in a bat suit beat up a dead celebrity. In the last 5 years, we have handed over ANOTHER billion dollars of our money to a single God damned false heroe talk show host lying manipulating hypocrite pig. Everytime a celebrity farts in this country, the people are right there to pay for a whiff and charge it to their credit card. The game of Monopoly was based on actual principles of economics. Of course, its not just that simple. But its close enough. In fact, if you alter the rules slightly, print some money, grab a bucket of gravel from the driveway, and a simple game of skill like darts, you can simulate almost any element of the economy. Including economic growth, creativity, and ambition. You could even simulate world trade by playing 3 games at once jumping from one board to another. If you want the game to last indefinately, there must be some sort of limit placed on the individual accumulation of personal wealth. Otherwise, the game eventually ends with only one winner. There must be a limit. Nothing else will ever work. If you think you can prove me wrong, give it your best shot. Let me know how the game turns out. Just remember: Its fun to crush the other guy at the kitchen table with fake money, fake resources, and a fake economy. But in the real world, greed causes economic instability, actual hardship, suffering, misery, starvation, and death. Now, test your partisan theories and see if you can make them work. I'll say it in advance: Thats what I thought. Greed kills.
